Drilling Formula Spread Sheet v.1.5
 By drillingformulas.com

This is the updated version of drilling formulas (Figure 1 – Drilling Formula Spread Sheet V1.5). In this version, we’ve added several equations and fixed some errors. Click the link to download in excel file.

Here are some sample equations included in the spreadsheet.

• Equivalent Circulating Density (ECD) Using Yield Point for MW less than or equal to 13 ppg
• Equivalent Circulating Density (ECD) Using Yield Point for MW more than 13 ppg
• Lag time
• Light weight spot fill to balance formation pressure
• Loss of hydrostatic pressure due to filling water into annulus in case of lost return
• Margine of Overpull
• Pipe Elongation Due to Temperature
• Pressure required to break circulation
• Pump out (both duplex and triplex pump)
• Pump Pressure and Pump Stroke Relationship
• Stuck Pipe Calculation

Rig Derrick Load Calculation
by drillingformulas.com

The drilling line is reeved over a set of crow block and down to another set of sheaves known as travelling block. The hook connected to travelling block is used to suspend the drilling load. One end of drilling line is wound onto the drawworks and this line is called “Fast Line”. Other end of the drilling line is tied into an anchor point on the rig floor and this line is named as “Dead Line”. The drilling line is reeved around the blocks several times in order to meet required load.  Check this link for details and sample calculation.
